Find the right mental health services for you.

The brain is complex and we are only beginning in our knowledge, constantly learning more. Your mental health is the result of the interplay of your life experiences, your genetics, and larger societal factors. One specific therapy type may or may not work for you. It is important for both therapists and clients to be flexible in trying different approaches to address different symptoms. I believe it is the therapist’s role to bring to the client the most up-to-date information and research on how to effectively treat and think about different mental health conditions.

The best place to start is right where you are.

1

What are you looking for?

Are you looking to understand your mental health diagnoses?

Are you wanting to dive in deeper to understand your mental health and work toward positive change?

Are you interested in learning more about mental health but aren’t sure if therapy is for you?

2

Personalized suggestions.

Psychological testing can help better understand your symptoms and allow us to compare your symptoms and functioning to your same-aged peers.

Therapy is often the step to take once we are ready for change, ready to actively participate in and experiment with how things are going in your life.

3

Getting Started.

Isn’t it absurd that the United States does not provide universal healthcare?!

Unfortunately, insurance companies are a part of the pathway toward mental health care for most people. Dr. Ellison is credentialed with many payors. Please follow the steps outlined for you when you receive your new patient information email.

How do I pay for therapy?

You can choose to pay through insurance or out of pocket. There are complicated components to each insurance company’s plan and how it interfaces with mental health services, which services, and how many services. It is the goal of Ellison Mental Health to be fully transparent about how this works. Receiving mental health services themselves should not create extra stress!

What if I need an emergency appointment?

Ellison Mental Health Services is an outpatient private mental health practice, meaning that it is not set up to provide emergency mental health care. If you are experiencing a mental health crisis, whether you are an existing patient or a new patient, emergency care is available through other 24-hour services. We recommend that you call 9-1-1, go to your nearest ER, or call/text 9-8-8 to engage with emergency professionals.
